What A Wonderful ChristmasThis year's Christmas was absolutely wonderful! This is the first year Arianna was really at the age of understanding just what was going on around her. She had a ball. Savannah just played with her new little toys just like any other day but Arianna was so into it this year.
Christmas Eve we went to a traditional dinner and gift giving party at Rick's grandparent's house. We all had a lot of fun together and these were the first presents that Arianna and Savannah got to open this Christmas. Arianna tore into hers and Savannah just gnawed on the boxes and paper. I think she is part goat or 100% baby. Anyway, we left there about 9:00 and rushed home so they could get to sleep before Santa got there. I wish Christmas came more ofter..... Arianna has never gone to bed so good! Rick stood out her window as I was tucking her in with a bell and I told her that was Santa's reindeer. She was in awe!
After I gave both of them their hugs and kisses I walked out, pulled the door to, and did not hear a peep out of them. Now it was time for the fun to begin. Rick and I stayed up and made sure everything was perfect for Christmas morning. We were so excited that we could hardly get to sleep. Well, we finally did, but about, oh, 4:30, I heard a sweet little voice saying very softly, "Mama, wake up, I think Santa has been here". I rolled over to see Arianna standing there WIDE awake. I then looked at the clock and thought I was seeing things. Rick and I convinced her to lay with is until 6:00 and then she could not take it any more. We actually had to wake Savannah up. We all walked in there together to see what Santa had brought and Arianna started jumping up and down with excitment. It was wonderful seeing the amazed look on both of their little faces.
After about 30 minutes they had ripped open all their presents and Arianna then sat there and tried to get the stuff out of the boxes. Oh, on a side note... whoever packages toys should be fired. They are practically a test of endurance just to get them out of their packaging. Okay, I had to get that out. As they sat there and played wtih their new toys Rick and I exchanged our gifts to each other.
Several hours, and a lot of candy later we headed to my Meg and Ken's house for my family's Christmas celebration. Then it was to Rick's parents. Then, after a very grueling day and some very short naps for the girls, we took the 2 cranky sweeties home for a good night's sleep.
One thing I did not like about this Christmas was the fact that my charger for the battery in my digital camera turned up missing. We were not able to take any pictures of them opening their presents. I could have cried. Fortunately we were able to get the whole thing on video. With a mischeiveous two year old though things can sometimes turn up missing. But that aside.... what a wonderful Christmas.
